KANSAS CITY, MO - Today I created a vehicle tracking application. This vehicle management web application provides an automated platform to track vehicle performance, operational costs, and historical event timelines.
Core Features
- Multi-Vehicle Fleet Tracking: Organizes vehicles into active inventory versus previously owned/sold historical records, providing tabbed navigation across the entire fleet.
- Granular Event & Expense Logging: Allows users to record categorized activities—including gas fill-ups, oil maintenance, tire changes, carwashes, upgrades, odometer readings, and photos.
- Performance & Efficiency Analytics: Automatically processes logs to render real-time interactive Chart.js graphs tracking fuel efficiency (MPG) over time, total miles driven, and maintenance target thresholds.
- Privacy & Access Control: Features a dual-state session model that restricts sensitive records (like VINs, license plates, and private event logs) to authenticated operators while cleanly displaying public entries to unauthenticated sessions.
- Media & Receipt Management: Integrated direct-to-S3 presigned uploads to capture and store photos of receipts, service logs, and primary vehicle hero banners.
- Chronological Timeline & Pagination: Orders activity logs by event date (newest first) and paginates entries in 10-item views.
